Mana Tāhuna responds to the needs of our whānau and our hapori. In 2023, our community told us that housing whānau was in a crisis. We established ‘Whare Ora – Healthy Homes’ to support whānau across the social housing spectrum into secure housing.

Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust
We have partnered with QLCHT, our regions Community Housing Provider (CHP) to support whānau Māori into secure homes. As our regions only CHP, QLCHT do a great job at advocating for all whānau across our region, we are excited to formally walk alongside the team at QLCHT.
This will see our teams work together to ensure whānau know how to apply, have the capability to meet requirements and will support financial and strategic planning with whānau requiring a little tautoko to get over the line.
Whare Ora Apartments
In 2024, through philanthropic support of the Hennessy Whānau, we built and now manage 9 one-bedroom apartments, to support whānau, kaumātua, kuia and anyone needing support. These units are intended to be short term, emergency accommodation or to house whānau until they find more suitable housing.
Funded through Department of Internal Affairs (Lotteries), we have a live in property manager which ensures health and safety of whānau and property, whilst supporting whānau.
